On keyboard percussion they will be able more complex study pieces introducing passing notes (leap/step). They demonstrate more expressive control over the instrument and can aurally identify simple key changes (tonic/dominant/sub dominant) in study pieces/backing tracks. Pupils have steady control of rolling techniques and can change between timpani drums/pitch ranges on the xylophone and will understand the basic principles of pedaling on timpani. They have an initial understanding of the ‘feel’ and ‘flavour’ of an increasing number of styles including Blues/Swing/Jazz. Pupils are able to change a regular quaver pulse drum beat and a semi quaver (‘16s’) beat to a backing track. They understand the concept of stick bouncing and how to manipulate stick bounce with a view working towards being able to play an ‘open stroke’ drum roll. Pupils can incorporate the 3 basic sticking patterns into fills and drum beats. They can think about and put their own ideas into the music. They think about overall effect and use their technique to realise the desired effect. Pupils can identify how different markings can reflect different musical intentions and can use this to play in the correct musical style. They start to understand the principles of rolling and dampening on timpani and tuned percussion.Īs well as extending the range of octaves on the keyboard instruments, pupils will be able to play scales/arpeggios in simple keys (C major/F major/G major) and start to play more complex melodies from study pieces within these keys. Where available/applicable they play with a sense of melody and phrasing on tuned percussion against a backing track. They can hear and identify differences between a few styles of music and how to play the basic rock beat patterns to complement these styles. They grasp basic sticking patterns (singles/doubles/paradiddles) and can transfer these onto other percussion instruments. They can play more complex minim/crotchet/quaver/semi quaver rhythms against a pulse and apply these to various percussion instruments drum kit, and where available/applicable, on timpani and tuned percussion. Pupils can play a ‘rock beat’, variations of the beat and securely maintain a steady pulse against backing tracks of various tempi. Where available/applicable, these skills will be transferable to other orchestral percussion instruments producing a controlled sound on timpani, keyboard percussion and start to grasp reading basic pitched notation (intervals of 3rds, 4ths, 5ths and octaves on timpani and tuned percussion) which will develop their aural recognition/tuning ability. They can play basic variations of the ‘rock beat’ and understand the concept of playing rhythm against a pulse. They can count and play a four bar phrase and add a semi quaver ‘fill’ into the phrase. Pupils can play a ‘rock beat’ with control at various tempi and with dynamics. Where available/applicable, they can play an octave scale (C major) on tuned percussion and a simple melody from the scale which made up from crotchet/quaver notation. They can read basic notation and can recognise simple structure and patterns in the music they play. They can play basic crotchet/quaver rhythmic patterns that are transferable to other orchestral percussion instruments. Pupils can play a basic drum beat (‘rock beat’) in 4/4 time and can control the speed and volume of the beat. Descriptions of assessment levels for percussion pupils.

Tommi Hakala and the YL Choir bring a complementary, sappy youthfulness. That first recording was also graced by Soile Isokoski in the part of Kullervo's raped sister, but here she surpasses herself in creating a selfcontained scena for her third-movement lament, vibrant and enticing before turning bitterly eloquent over her shame. Perhaps partly due to a superbly contoured recording, but also the more keenly expressive responses of the Helsinki orchestra, especially its woodwind, the many transitions in the work seem to count for more, and in 'Kullervo's Youth' achieve a Mussorgskian abruptness and intensity. Segerstam's second cycle of the numbered symphonies has at points such as the Seventh come a cropper with such largesse of gesture and tempo, but like Segerstam's first recording (Chandos – now available as a download only), is refreshingly straightforward with sound and well chosen tempi. $ Īs a fine Wagner conductor Leif Segerstam knows something about pacing and maintaining a strong rhythmic profile over the longest spans of musical narrative, and for all the composer's vaunted debt to Bruckner in the instrumental movements, a grander, operatic sweep seems more germane to this always intriguing, sui generis hybrid of symphonic poem, symphony and cantata. In short, we’re spoiled for choice in this work, and I for one am not complaining. “Kullervo Goes to War” also benefits from the excellent clarity of the engineering (in all formats), which gives the timpani additional presence at no sacrifice of natural balances between sections. Still, you will find an extra deftness to the string playing, particularly in “Kullervo’s Youth”, and some outstanding contributions from the all-important woodwinds (the crazy repeated-note oboe solo in the first movement has never gone better). That also was a very fine interpretation, not terribly different in concept from this one. Segerstam, as collectors will know, recorded the work previously with Danish forces for Chandos. Happily, the rest of the work satisfies in equal measure. The YL Male Choir makes a meal of its long narratives in the third and fifth movements, so in the two vocal movements alone this release offers something special. As Kullervo, Tommi Hakala sings every bit as well as Jorma Hynninen, with the same intensity and intelligence, but with a richer and warmer timbre. Still, Isokoski’s interpretation puts so much sadness for innocence lost back into the part (and she’s so sensitively accompanied by Segerstam) that the entire long movement is transformed. To be fair, it’s not exactly a major role, and the number of singers comfortable with Finnish always will be limited. In particular, Soile Isokoski is simply miles away from the matronly mezzos who often take the part of Kullervo’s sister. So then the question becomes, “What does this new version have that the others don’t?” The answer is simple: the best solo singing the work has ever received. Kullervo really is a remarkable creation for a young composer coming “from nowhere”, as it were, and the second movement, “Kullervo’s Youth”, is a masterpiece that at a stroke reveals Sibelius as a major voice. I don’t exactly see lines forming for this particular work at what few classical CD stores remain, but no matter. For an industry that’s supposed to be in trouble, it’s remarkable to consider that there have been no less than three superb SACD multichannel recordings of Sibelius’ epic Kullervo Symphony in the past year or so. This one goes much further in its pursuit of thrills though, as it invites visitors to swim between two high-rise buildings in a clear acrylic box. However, from Godo Pools we recommend that you always choose the acrylic panel as it offers much superior characteristics and, in the long term, it will not give you any kind of problem, it is 100% safe and it looks very aesthetic, especially when it is included in designer pools.Vertigo-inducing swimming pools seem to be in fashion at the moment and following news of the Brooklyn Point tower's infinity pool in New York City, London now boasts its own one-of-a-kind swimming pool, too. In some cases it may be enough to include glass in a pool. This does not happen with the acrylic panel for swimming pools, which offers up to 92% light transmission, excellent brightness and distortion-free vision, undoubtedly much better than glass. Many types of pool glass tend to yellow and distort the image. Quite the opposite of acrylic panels, which are easily polished even when placed in the pool. What happens if a pool glass is scratched or worn? Unfortunately, glass is a very difficult material to polish. In addition to the consequence that it would have on the safety of the pool, there is another disadvantage from an aesthetic point of view, and it is the following: when glass is used, for example in an infinity pool, the user can see all the layers, negatively affecting the result. This means that, in the event that the glass receives an impact, as it is not flexible, one of its layers or sheets could break more easily. While the glass used in swimming pools is made up of several sheets of glass joined together, the acrylic panel does not have layers, but is custom-made, to the desired thickness. Layers Ejemplo de capas en un cristal para piscina In fact, it is precisely acrylic panel that is used in enclosures such as aquariums, as it is capable of withstanding high mechanical loads. It’s a lot of difference, don’t you think? EnduranceĪcrylic panels won’t break or crack like glass and offer 11 times the impact resistance of glass. Moreover, with the same installation, the weight of the glass is 4 times greater than the weight of the acrylic panel. You should know that, if we compare the pool glass with the acrylic panel, the latter weighs much less and is also stronger. When building a pool it is very important to take into account the weight of the materials used, especially if you want to build a pool in an attic or roof terrace. When these pressure changes occur, it is necessary to include a flexible material in the pool, which absorbs this dynamic load.įor this purpose, acrylic panels are ideal, given their high flexibility, which even allows molding in complete safety, both with concave and convex shapes. This means that when we swim in a pool, the water moves and the water pressure comes and goes. Keep in mind that water presents a dynamic load. Advantages of Acrylic Panel Scheme of acrylic panel installed in an attic pool Flexibility Although many builders continue to use glass or glass for swimming pools, you should know that the acrylic panel offers characteristics that are far superior to glass and is currently the best option on the market to create transparent walls or windows in the water. However, what has evolved is the material used. This is the case, for example, of the famous Sky Pool, located in the Embassy Gardens building in London.Īll these designs are still very much in force today. Without forgetting that it is also possible for an entire pool to be surrounded by glass, so that both its glass and its walls have been made of glass. GodoPools team placing acrylic panel in a pool It is also possible to see the glass in underwater windows, which are included in the pool shell to, for example, illuminate a spa or a gym located on a lower floor. The glass for swimming pools is very striking in infinity pools when the end that faces the horizon is transparent and produces an effect of opening to infinity, very surprising. One of the most attractive designs when building a pool focuses on the use of a glass wall.
